Tasmania has some incredible talent and Cancer Council Tasmania is showcasing some of the best at this year's Northwest Gala!
MASTER OF CEREMONIES - RICK FONTYN
Rick is a proud supporter of Cancer Council Tasmania, generously committing his energy to host some of the most successful gala events over recent years.
Rick has a passion for local sport, and has experience in television presenting, radio commentary, and live events as well. Currently, Rick is the Ground Announcer for Hawthorn's Tasmanian AFL games (and has done a few MCG gigs as well) for the club he has supported since the age of 7, and works extensively in promoting sports and sporting events for his clients.. In addition, Rick hosts a weekly local sports show called 'Talking Sport Tasmania' and you can also find/hear him regularly behind the microphone commentating live sporting action via Talking Sport Tasmania also. Some of Rick's other recent work includes Court Announcer for the Brisbane Tennis International for the past 3 years, presenting the sport on 7 Tasmania News, Media Liason for Olympic Winter Institute of Australia, and Media Manager of the Launceston International Tennis Tournament.
LIVE ENTERTAINMENT - AUSTRALIAN ARMY BAND TASMANIA
The Australian Army Band Tasmania (AAB-T) has been serving the Tasmanian community for well over 100 years. Its role is to enhance the image of the Australian Army through community and military engagements and to provide music support for ceremonial functions. AAB-T also performs at major events and regularly supports charitable organisations. They are equally at home on the parade ground, the concert hall or on centre stage and can perform as a concert band, marching band, big band, rock band, woodwind quintet and fanfare team in a wide variety of genres which is sure to suit any event.
