Prizes

Major Prize: 

All tickets must be purchased online by credit or debit card, or PayPal.

Purchasers must be aged 18 years or older. Only 7,200 tickets at $5 each will be sold. The winner will be contacted over the phone and will be notified in writing. The first name, initial of the last name, and winning ticket number of the prize winner will be published online within 14 days by print and social media after final Major Prize Draw on the Cancer Council NT Raffle website and Cancer Council NT Facebook page (facebook.com/cancernt).

To claim a prize the winner must present documentation to meet the 100-point proof of identity. This equates to their current driver’s licence and passport or birth certificate. The winner must also provide their official winning Raffle ticket to claim their prize. 

All times and dates published on our website, in our promotional material and in these Terms and Conditions are listed in Australian Central Standard Time (ACST) unless otherwise stated.

Publicity

The Promoter may use prize winners’ details for promotional purposes. By entering the Promotion, the Major Prize Winner agrees to participate in reasonable media activities concerning the Promotion and to photographs or video of the winner being used for the Promoter’s marketing and promotional activities (both in print and on the internet).

Major/First Prize Details

The prize, awarded by HMAS Coonawarra, includes:

-          Tour of the HMAS Coonawarra Larrakeyah base

-          Steber boat tour of Darwin Harbour

-          Jet RHIB (rigid-hulled inflatable boat) ride

-          a tour of a visiting warship if applicable at time of winner redeeming prize experience (subject to visiting ships/timings and approval)

-          a tour of a Patrol Boat

-          lunch in the Borella Room of the Larrakeyah Officers Mess with the HMAS Coonawarra Commanding Officer and HMAS Coonawarra Commanding Warrant Officer

The prize is to be redeemed between 10th October 2025 and 30th June 2026.

Winner is able to bring one guest with them. Guest is to be 18 years of age or above.

The winner has 72 hours from receiving our written notification to claim the prize and must provide 100 points of certified ID to Cancer Council NT and their official winning Raffle ticket.

All tickets purchased prior to 09:00, Friday 10 October 2025 will be included in the Major Prize Draw.

Conduct of draws

The prize will be drawn at random. The draw is to be conducted by executives of Cancer Council NT and HMAS Coonawarra at the HMAS Coonawarra Larrakeyah Base. 

Unclaimed prizes will be dealt with in accordance with the procedures set out in the Gaming Control (Community Gaming) Regulations (2006).

Refunds

Refunds are generally not accepted. If a refund is endorsed by Cancer Council NT the request will need written approval of Licensing NT. This process may take several weeks. Refunds cannot be issued after the prize draws.

Changes

Where it is lawful to do so, these Terms and Conditions may be updated to address any errors or to clarify information and re-published online at nt.cancer.org.au.


Purchasers

Excluded purchasers

Tickets must not be purchased by: Cancer Council NT, its board members, executive team members, and employees. During both the conduct of the draw and before the prize has been redeemed, if the Cancer Council NT CEO (or delegate) deems the prize winner illegible, then the relevant prize will be re-drawn and the excluded purchaser will not be entitled to collect the prize. The decision of the Cancer Council NT CEO (or delegate) will be final and binding.

Confirming winners

If there is any doubt or dispute of the winner then the matter will be referred to the Cancer Council NT CEO (or delegate) for resolution.

The decision of the CEO shall be final and binding. The CEO will not be acting as an arbitrator and the CEO’s decision shall not be subject to challenge or review.

HMAS Coonawarra Terms and Conditions

Redeeming of Prize

All prizes are awarded by HMAS Coonawarra. Prize experience will be located at HMAS Coonawarra, Larrakeyah Defence Precinct, Packard St Darwin 0800.

To redeem your prize, a date and time must be pre-booked with the relevant officer in advance (minimum 7 days’ notice) and must be between the period of 10 October 2025 - 30 June 2026 during weekdays between 9am and 4pm.

The prize is transferrable to someone over the age of 18 years old with 7 days’ notice given to both Cancer Council NT and HMAS Coonawarra. Prize validity does not change from 10 October 2025 - 30 June 2026.

General

Submission to search

It is a condition of entry to the Event site that all persons consent to their vehicles, containers, bags, luggage, receptacles able to hold content, coats, promotional materials, exhibits, stands, equipment, personal property and effects being searched for prohibited items at any time by Defence Security Officials.

Right to refuse entry and to remove

The Organisers, their officials or security personnel may, in their absolute discretion, refuse entry to the Event site to any person, vehicle or receptacles.

Persons in possession of items not permitted into the event may be refused entry, or the items may be seized if it poses a threat to safety or if it is involved in a crime. 
 
The Organisers, their officials or security personnel may, at their absolute discretion, require any person, vehicle or receptacle to leave the Event site.

Any person failing to comply with a request on behalf of the Organisers to leave the Event site may be physically removed by Defence Security Officials.

Any vehicle or receptacles, which constitutes a threat to the safety of persons on the Defence premises or relates to a criminal offence committed, or that may be committed, on or in relation to Defence premises, may be seized and removed by Defence Security Officials.

Release of liability

All persons admitted to the Event site are advised that military installations and Navy Establishments include elements of danger and risk of injury. The approvals required by the applicable authorities have been obtained for this event and such precautions as are reasonably appropriate will be taken to minimise risk to those in attendance. It is a condition of entry that all persons attending HMAS Coonawarra as part of the prize experience do so assuming any risk associated with their own actions and of other attendees.

Identification requirements

All adults admitted to the Event site may be required to produce, on demand to Defence Security Officials, personal identification (such as driver’s licence, proof of age card, service identification).

Smoking

Smoking and the use of e-cigarettes is not permitted at HMAS Coonawarra.

 Prohibited items

Persons, vehicles and containers are not permitted to enter the event site with any prohibited item. Prohibited items include:
 

1.      Alcohol and illegal substances

2.      Vehicles or transportation devices, including without limitation any motorcar, motorcycle, motor scooter, bicycle, Segway, scooter, skateboard, roller skates or roller blades, are not permitted, with the exception of wheelchairs or mobility scooters where required in connection with a disability or an impairment.

3.      Pets, other animals and birds with the exception of assistance animals.

4.      Tents, shelters, shade and/or beach umbrellas, structures, elevated seating. Fold-up chairs are not permitted.

5.      Radio transmitting equipment. Non-transmitting radio receivers/scanners are permitted.

6.      Radio/remote controlled devices, including drones.

7.      Strobe lights, laser pointers, and similar light emitting devices.

8.      Explosives, fireworks, flares, pyrotechnics, smoke canisters, weapons (including replica and toy firearms), projectiles and similar devices.

9.  Paint, chemicals, spray cans, apparatus and equipment

10.  Hazardous substances including powders, pastes, irritants, toxic substances and gas canisters are not permitted.

11.  Megaphones, amplifiers, loud speakers.

12.  Placards, flags, banners, signs, brochures and leaflets.

13.  Illegal drugs or substances similar to illegal drugs.

14.  Offensive slogans or images on clothing, banners, posters or material of any kind displaying inappropriate political and/or religious images/writing; offensive race related messages, slogans or images; offensive slogans or images as deemed by Event Staff.

15.  Any other object, device, substance or item that is considered dangerous, hazardous and/or illegal, or that may be used as a weapon or missile, or that may compromise or otherwise interfere with the safety or enjoyment of, or pose a hazard to, any person, including security, at the Venue, will not be permitted.

 

Lost or unattended items

Bags, luggage, receptacles and personal effects left unattended at HMAS Coonawarra will be made available for collection Larrakeyah Defence Precinct main entrance. Any items, not collected within a reasonable timeframe, may be disposed of by Defence in accordance with its obligations under the Accountable Authority Instructions.

Suspicious objects

Suspicious objects or persons behaving in a suspicious manner should be reported immediately to the Organisers, their officials, security personnel or the police.

Security surveillance

The event site may be under security surveillance and persons may be filmed at any time.

Accessibility

Most areas of HMAS Coonawarra are wheelchair accessible. However, visiting Ship and Patrol Boat tours require steep ascents and descents, and the RHIB tour requires passengers to embark and disembark without assistance. These activities are not suitable for visitors who use a wheelchair or have a mobility impairment.   

RHIB Ride

RHIB rides are subject to the weather, safety and serviceability. The RHIB ride may be paused or cancelled without notice.

Passengers may get wet during the RHIB ride, spare clothing is recommended.

Passengers must be able to safely board and disembark from the RHIB without assistance. Injuries or a condition that affects movement or balance, may result in embarkation refusal. The RHIB Ride is not recommended for those who are pregnant.

It is compulsory to undergo the safety briefing as is the wearing of a personal flotation device (supplied). Non-compliance with safety briefing or refusal to don a personal flotation device will result in cancellation of the RHIB ride.

Passengers must wear enclosed shoes and the wearing of dresses and skirts is discouraged.

Passengers are warned that the RHIB may move, accelerate, turn and tilt without warning.

Passengers must follow crew instructions at all times. A basic ability to comprehend English is required. Sight or hearing impaired passengers must have a companion to convey instructions.

The vessel master may cancel, curtail or otherwise manoeuvre their vessel for safety reasons.

Acceptance

By participating in the Cancer Council NT Raffle, you have agreed to accept these Terms and Conditions. 

We need to collect personal information to process your purchase, verify you are over 18, notify you if you are a winner, communicate with you about other Cancer Council NT Raffles and initiatives, and conduct normal business. By providing your personal information, you agree that your information will be used and disclosed by Cancer Council NT in accordance with this Collection Statement and our Privacy Policy.
