Special Guest Speaker - Kyle Perry

This year, we’re excited to welcome Kyle Perry as our very special guest speaker – Kyle is a local north-west coast lad from Ridgley and has very recently made Australia’s best sellers list for his break-through novel, The Bluffs. After 10 years spent writing, facing rejections and set backs, Kyle will share his inspiring story of perserverence in how he achieved his goal of becoming the internationally published author he is today.

Kyle is a born-and-raised Ridgley boy. His debut crime novel, THE BLUFFS, published in 2020 by Penguin Books Australia, was a breakout best-seller, shortlisted for Dymocks Book of the Year, the Indies Debut of the Year, is currently long-listed for the Australian Book Industry Awards General Fiction book of the year, and has been sold into five other languages and counting. His next book, THE DEEP, will be released in July 2021. Both of his novels are set in Tasmania.

Kyle has worked as a youth worker in high schools and shelters, and as a counsellor and case manager in Alcohol and Other Drug rehabs, both in the North-West and in Hobart. He currently works for the peak body for Alcohol and Other Drugs in Tasmania. He wrote 10 manuscripts over 10 years before landing a book deal.
